Please follow the steps below to resolve your issue-
Disable User Account Control:
1. Click on Windows logo button which will be present at the left bottom corner of the screen.
2. Look for Control Panel among the options listed on the right pane. Click on Control Panel to open it.
3. Look for "User Accounts" in the Control Panel list and click on it.
4. Click on "Turn User Account Control on or off”.
5. In the User Accounts Control window, press the "Continue" button.
6. Uncheck "Use User Accounts Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" option.
7. Click on OK.
8. You will be prompted to restart your PC, click on ‘Restart Now’ button.
Try Launching the game manually from the directory (default directory - c:\program files\bots)
- Click ‘Start’
- Click ‘Computer’
- Browse to C:\Program Files\BOTS
- Look for file name ‘BOTS.exe’ and double click it to launch the patch updater window.
- Let the patch update and click on Start to play.
Change the compatibility mode-
1. Click 'Start', Click 'Run' or Press the 'R' key on the keyboard.
2. Type in the open box 'C:\Program files\bots'
3. Look for a file with name 'Bots.exe'
4. Right-click the file and click on 'Properties', click on the tab 'Compatibility'.
5. Under the column 'Compatibility mode', make sure to check the option 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and in the drop down list select 'Windows XP'.
Try Launching the game from directory again.
This error may be caused due to any one of the following reasons -
1) Firewall / Antivirus settings might prevent the game to connect to the server and causing the error message. Please try to disable such programs temporarily and check once again.
2) Low available memory on the system could cause the game to close or freeze. There might be resource intensive programs running on your PC. Please close all other applications running in the background and try again.
3) Poor internet connectivity/speed or Internet bandwidth shared with too many users in a LAN causes the game to disconnect from server due to increased latency. Please check your internet connection speed (minimum required speed - 256 kbps) or contact your ISP for any issues related to internet in your area.
If you have checked for all the causes listed above and still facing the same issue, reinstall the game using the steps mentioned below -
Un-install:
1. Click on Start > Control Panel
2. Click on Add/Remove Programs (If using Windows Vista, the option will be names – ‘Programs and Features’)
3. Find BOTS in the list of installed programs.
4. Click on Uninstall
Browse to C:\Program Files, find and delete directory named ‘BOTS’
Reinstall:
1. Download the latest BOTS setup client from http://bots.acclaim.com/download.htm.
2. Double click on the setup file and let the installation process complete.
3. Launch the game and let the update run.
In-game trade is player responsibility and out of monitoring purview of Game Masters / Game administration. We would not be able to assist due to the in-ability of determining even with screenshots/proof provided whether the intent/situation is genuine. Therefore, we request you to be careful while trading or trusting another player. Moreover, do not share your account information with anyone and do not accept to trade unless the item is placed in the trade window and completed in the same trade session in exchange for your gigas / any other item.
1. Check for Administrative privileges in your Windows user account: In order to run the BOTS game properly, you need to run it as an Administrator. Your windows user account should have administrative privileges to run BOTS properly. BOTS will not run while launching it with a guest or limited account.
If you already have an Windows Administrative account, and are still facing the error, proceed to step 2:
2. Uninstall and Reinstall the game using the steps below :
Uninstall:
1. Click on Start > Control Panel
2. Click on Add/Remove Programs (If using Windows Vista, the option will be names – ‘Programs and Features’)
3. Find BOTS in the list of installed programs.
4. Click on Uninstall
Browse to C:\Program Files, find and delete the directory named ‘BOTS’
Re-install:
1. Download the latest BOTS setup client from http://bots.acclaim.com/download.htm.
2. Double click on the setup file and let the installation process complete.
3. Launch the game and let the update run.
Try the steps below to resolve your issue-
1. Clear the cookies and temp files on your internet browser.
Click on the "Tools" option in your Browser Menu at the top.
Click on the option "Internet Options"
In the General Tab, look for buttons "Delete Cookies" and "Delete Files"
Click on both and press "OK"
In the Advanced Tab, press the button 'Restore Defaults' which is above the 'OK' button towards the bottom of the window.
2. Look for any resource intensive or bandwidth consuming applications running in the background and close them.
3. Check your firewall settings, add "BOTS.exe" and Login Server IP “69.89.80.32” in the program exception list. Alternatively, you can disable Windows Firewall temporarily and try again.
4. Ensure that you add 'bots.exe, bots.dat and gameguard.des' in the program exception list. You can also to disable your anti-virus temporarily to check if it is causing the issue, however you must activate and configure your windows firewall while doing this.
How To configure Windows Firewall:
1. Click on Start>Control Panel
2. Click on Security Center > Windows Firewall
3. Open the windows firewall settings, click on the 'exceptions' tab
4. Ensure that the tick box next to 'bots.exe' is checked.
5. If you cannot find 'bots.exe', click on the 'Add Program' button, use the 'Browse' option to navigate to c:\program files\bots\bots.exe and click 'open' and Click 'OK'.
BOTS is an online game and while playing you are connected to our game servers. During gameplay, your computer sends and receives information in form of packets continuously.
Latency(Lag) is the proper name for the time it takes a packet of information to be sent from the sender to the server over a network. A Lag is general name for high latency and more specifically when it is noticeable. If the latency is low, you don't notice any lag, the longer it takes a packet to cross the network, the more lag you have. At the time of lag, you see the characters behaving in an improper manner because at that time you are not receiving the information about the movement of characters in due time from our servers. A lag generally occurs due to slow internet connectivity.
Check with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for any internet connectivity issues in your area.
Lag may also be caused due to the following technical reasons - The reason for your game lag could be anyone of the following:
1) System does not meet game requirements
2) Insufficient hard drive space/memory
3) Too many programs running in the back ground
4) ISP/network issues
5) Virus or Spyware

Delete Internet Cookies and Temporary Files -
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on 'Tools', 'Internet options'
- Delete the cookies and files.
Delete temporary files from your PC -
- Click 'START', 'RUN'
- Type %temp% and click 'OK'.
- A TEMP folder will pop up.
- Delete all the files in this folder. Some files or folders may not be deleted, please ignore them.
Increase virtual memory:
- Click 'Start' , Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
- Then under the 'Advanced' tab, look for the 'Performance' column and click 'Settings'.
- Click on the 'Advanced' tab and look for 'Virtual Memory' column and click on 'Change'.
- Select the drive which has enough free space and click 'Custom Size'.
- Enter the values in 'Initial Size' and 'Maximum size'. The initial value is 1.5 times your RAM memory and maximum value is 3 times your RAM memory.
- Once this is complete, click on 'Set' and then 'OK'.
3) Close or disable all other programs running in the background.
4) ISP /network issues.

5) Virus and Spyware
Please scan your computer for any viruses or Spyware regularly using the most updated version.

A. Click the save button, when prompted, choose a destination for the file to save and when the download completes, double click on the file to install.
B. Let the installation finish and double click on the shortcut created on desktop to start the game.
3. Look for any bandwidth consuming applications running in the background and close them.
4. Check and disable any Pop-up blocker on your browser.
5. Ensure your firewall is not blocking the download, disable your firewall temporarily and try downloading the game.
6. Check your system for spyware/viruses using the latest spyware/anti-virus.
If your calendar does not update try clearing your cookies using the steps below,
For IE 6 -
Click on the "Tools" option in your Browser Menu at the top.
Click on the option "Internet Options"
In the General Tab, look for buttons "Delete Cookies" and "Delete Files"
Click on both and press "OK"
For IE 7 -
Click on 'Tools', Click 'Internet Options' and under the column 'Browsing History', click 'Delete',
Click on 'Delete all', press 'OK'
For Firefox -
* Click 'Tools'
* Click 'Options'
* Click 'Privacy'
* Click 'Cookies'
* Click 'Clear cookies' (or something similar)
* Click the 'cache' tab
* Click 'clear cache'

3. Close all windows and background programs running (If any). Restart your system if you havent already. Uninstall any macro software.
4. Check and close any processes that may be conflicting with the Game (try this option only if you are an experienced or advanced user, any incorrect change/removal could seriously affect your system, take the help of an experienced user if you can (friends or family).
5. Reinstall DirectX - 9.0c

6. Uninstall and Reinstall the game using the steps given below :
-Click on the "START" button, please look for "Control Panel" and click on it.
-On the next window click on "Add/Remove Programs". In this list,
-look for "BOTS" and click on "Remove".
-Please delete all the shortcuts and the default directory (c:\program files\bots). Please follow the steps given below -
-Press ' START ' and click on 'Run',
- in the empty box, type in - 'C:\Program Files, Press 'OK',
-delete the directory 'BOTS', please be careful not to delete any other folder in the directory 'Program Files'.
-Restart your Computer,
Use a Registry Cleaner to correct/remove invalid entries in your registry-
Sometimes your registry may contain/develop invalid entries due to errors and incorrectly installed/uninstalled programs. These entries cause conflicts and hence cause programs to crash.
-Restart your computer,

7. Scan your system completely for spyware and viruses using the latest or most recently updated spyware/anti-virus. Spyware and Viruses cause the system to malfunction and also affect program behaviour.
If you are unable to find your coins in the game, Try logging to a different server i.e. Open 2, Internationa1 or Open3. You may use the coins to purchase any coin items. If you are unable to find the coins on all servers, We would recommend you wait (for XXX specify time) until the coins appear again as it may be caused due to a temporary technical issue.
